Enjoy life with great people.
My vision.

LUKAS SCHMIDT STANDS FOR PASSION.
Insanity! More than half a millennium. Wine for 11 generations here at the winery in Bullenheim. It is a great honor for me to continue this legacy. Growing up with wine in your blood is something very special.
I have enjoyed a very good education in the best wine regions in the world. In southern Styria and South Tyrol I learned how complex and exciting the world of aromatic grape varieties can be. In the Bullenheimer Paradise - my home - the best Scheurebe grapes have been growing for decades. Today I get to harvest great grapes from vines that grandpa planted with his hands. Wow!
Lukas Schmidt Wein stands for unique aromatic grape varieties - Scheurebe, Muskateller & Riesling - that are fun! Complex, juicy, spicy - great! Dive into the wonderful world of nose wines with me.

Bullenheim - the only paradise that you can leave alive. If you want that.

Location: Bullenheimer Paradise.
In the beginning there was the Bullenheim paradise
The largest area of vines in Middle Franconia extends within the boundaries of this wine-growing village. The location is called "Bullenheimer Paradise" - cradle and namesake of the "Wine Paradise Franconia".
The ruins of the Kunigunden chapel on Bullenheimer Berg can be seen from afar. This late Gothic building is stone evidence of a legend according to which the Empress Kunigunde and her entourage got lost in the forest around 1000 years ago. The ringing of bells from the valley gave them their bearings. In gratitude for the rescue, the pious woman had a chapel built.
Nearby, the lookout tower from the "Oberding" towers 456 m above sea level over the Kunigundenwald. From up there, the view sweeps across the mixed forest far into the open valley. The Bullenheimer Berg attained its first major heyday during the Celtic period. The hoard finds discovered during excavations are assigned to the urnfield period. The bronze replica of a find with artistically crafted carriage fittings and pieces of jewelry can be found at the bottom of the source stone on the town hall square.
The town hall, built in 1583 with its magnificent half-timbered upper floor, is an imposing jewel of the square. Two coat of arms reliefs remind us that Bullenheim was once owned by the Lords of Schwarzenberg. The grave epitaph of Paul von Schwarzenberg in the church of St. Leonhard also tells of their power. Protected by late-medieval defensive walls with historic church gates, the Simultankirche forms the center of an extraordinary architectural monument ensemble.
Bullenheim paradise
The Bullenheimer Paradise is the largest single vineyard in Middle Franconia. She is the namesake of the wine zone "Weinparadies Franken". Once you have seen this location, you will never forget it. It is not the steepest, not the sparsest, and yet it shapes the appearance of the landscape so lastingly that "paradise" can probably be the only correct name for this location. Due to the size of the location of 65 hectares (1ha = 10,000 sqm), the qualities produced there are of course very heterogeneous. In addition, the orientation is changing from purely south-facing to south-western locations.
Our plots are located about 1 km east of the romantic, dreamy wine village of Bullenheim. All the wines that we bottle under the name "Bullenheimer Paradies" came from old plots in the shoulder area of the site with a consistent southern orientation. The slope in these plots is up to 50%. As the southern foothills of the Steigerwald, the dominant soil formation is the Gipskeuper, which gives the wines strength and concentration. Despite the high level of exposure to the sun, the adjacent Steigerwald ensures high day-night temperature differences, which helps to preserve the freshness of the grapes.
We produce 3 single-layer wines in the Bullenheimer Paradise. Above all, an incredibly juicy Silvaner and an extremely fruity Riesling. In addition, our most structured and densest Scheurebe comes from here.
