Respect, decency and love

At LUKAS SCHMIDT Wein, we view sustainability not as a trend, but as a deeply rooted attitude. For 11 generations, our family has cultivated vineyards in the heart of Franconia with passion and dedication – and with each generation, our sense of responsibility for our environment, our fellow human beings, and our future grows.

Organic viticulture – our foundation for quality and responsibility

All our vines are organically grown. This is not only a matter of course for us, but also an expression of our deep respect for nature, which nourishes and sustains us. We consistently avoid synthetic pesticides and instead promote stable ecosystems, vibrant soils, and healthy vines through natural plant protection, greening, and diverse biodiversity.

Our vineyards are a habitat – for plants, animals, and people. Therefore, we cultivate them with the utmost care and appreciation to preserve not only the quality of our wines but also the beauty of our landscape for future generations.

Why we don’t print the organic seal on the bottle

For us, sustainability isn't a marketing ploy, but a ethos that permeates every step of our work. That's why we deliberately choose not to print our organic seal on our bottles. Because our customers don't choose our wines because of a logo—they choose them because of the taste, the uncompromising quality, and our clear vision.

Our wines tell their story not through labels, but through substance. Through depth. Through honest craftsmanship. Through values. We trust that true luxury is conveyed not through certificates, but through trust and experience. And that's exactly what we demonstrate – with every bottle.

For us, sustainability means living responsibility – also in our interactions

We live our values of respect, decency, and equality – with our employees, partners, and customers. Many of our business relationships have existed for decades because they are built not on short-term gains, but on trust and a shared approach.

This attitude permeates all our decisions: from winemaking to communications, from label selection to event planning. We believe in quiet luxury, in lived authenticity—and in the goodness of our beautiful planet.

Only the healthiest and most fully ripe grapes are able to give our wines the noble, unmistakable character that we strive for. With the utmost precision and dedication, we harvest only completely healthy grapes - each one carefully selected by hand with razor-sharp scissors. Our team makes sure that only the most flawless berries make it into the harvest box.

Our dedication continues in the wine cellar: the grapes are processed carefully and precisely in order to optimally bring out the unique fruit and minerality that our vines, with their deep root system, transport into each berry. Using the latest technology, the hand-picked grapes are gently separated from their stalks, while leaves and stems are sorted out. This detailed process ensures the quality of our harvest and enables us to create wines of exceptional purity and elegance. In this way, we create wines that reflect the best of our vines with unmistakable LUKAS SCHMIDT character and noble sophistication.
