Wine recommendations from Middle Franconia
Middle Franconia may be significantly smaller than Lower Franconia in terms of its vineyard area, but its winemakers are talented. Their wines from the Franconian Keuper, a soil formation common in Middle Franconia, are even internationally renowned. This is certainly due in part to the passionate winegrowers. Wine expert and sommelier Conny Ganß presents her three personal favorites from Middle Franconia.

Conny Ganß: "The largest vineyard area in Middle Franconia extends within the wine-growing town of Bullenheim . The ' Bullenheimer Paradies' site is the cradle and namesake of the wine-growing region ' Weinparadies Franken' . Perhaps this is why master winemaker Lukas Schmidt chose the bird of paradise as his logo .
At just 17, Lukas was already driven to turn his big dreams into something worthwhile. Lukas, who now runs the family winery in Bullenheim in the eleventh generation , brings with him a wealth of skill and respect for nature. He always keeps an eye on the industry and pursues his own path with courage and innovation . His infectious joie de vivre is also reflected in his wines. A glass, or even a bottle, full of joie de vivre, for every occasion. Authentic, Franconian, and with a certain wink.
Lukas is taking a new, contemporary approach with his wines – the ' Smart Wine' concept : clearly communicating high quality. His 'Second Flight' wine line represents pure joie de vivre, with a focus on the aromas of the grape varieties. The aromatic Scheurebe, in particular, is a worthy representative of this series and embodies what 'Second Flight' is all about.
Planted by Grandpa Werner over 50 years ago, this wine shines with its varietal fruitiness of pink peach, orange, and juicy passion fruit. Added to that is the subtle spice of nutmeg and a hint of elderflower. But never overpowering—only Scheurebe can do that, if it's made with great sensitivity! Wonderfully drinkable on the palate, with a good finish, plenty of juiciness, and refreshingly dry. The glass is instantly empty.
